Columbia Sportswear states that this technology can increase insulation by about 20 percent compared to normal fill jackets. The Columbia Sportswear Heat Elite jacket is also filled with a thin layer of synthetic fill in addition to the reflective shiny lner and according to some mountain climbers this technology does work.
