Columbia Heat Elite - Omni Heat Insulated jacket

Columbia has a new idea..use a thin shiny liner in a jacket to reflect heat back to the body to keep it warm. Columbia Sportswear states that this technology can increase insulation by about 20 percent compared to normal fill jackets. The Columbia Sportswear Heat Elite jacket is also filled with a thin layer of synthetic fill in addition to the reflective shiny lner and according to some mountain climbers this technology does work.

To protect you from wetness and wind, the fabric is windproof and waterproof /breathable but unfortunately the seams of jacket do not have seam tape and the DWR doesn’t last very long on this jacket. Just in case things get too hot the Columbia Heat Elite jacket has 12 inch arm pit zippers to vent out all the heat and moisture.

The jackets pockets are fleece lined to keep hands warm and it has a baggy enough fit to wear a mid-layer underneath. This jacket is well suited for cold and dry environments.

Price: $170 Weight: 1 lb 5 oz.
