Camping Tents Buying And Maintenance Tips
By Editor | April 25, 2009
Buying Tips
- Clips rather than sleeves and fewer poles translate to a faster set-up.
- More poles and continuous sleeves add stability in stormy weather.
- Mesh limits condensation, but reduces warmth and weather protection
- Taped seams are essential for keeping water at bay, especially on the floor and fly
- An optional tent “footprint” is worth the extra bucks, as it’ll save your tent floor and allow a canopy-free set-up for hot weather.
Maintenance Tips
Remember UV rays will eventually cause irreparable damage to your tent, but you can slow the process down by camping in the shade whenever possible and using the rain fly even on clear days, it’s a lot cheaper to replace than the whole tent.
