Mountain Hardwear Airjet 2 Ultralight Tent
By Editor | March 9, 2009
The Mountain Hardwear Airjet 2 is an ultralight single-wall tent for backpackers. Until now, most single-walls have been built with alpine climbers in mind-they’re lightweight but they quickly turn into a portable sweat lodge below treeline. The Mountain Hardwear Airjet Airjet 2 ultralight tent is different, thanks to a lightweight nylon body with an airy cross-venting system consisting of a mesh perimeter and four top vents. Also unusual for a single-wall is the built-in vestibule and mortgage-free price tag.
Keep in mind that what you gain in extra ventilation you lose in storm-worthiness, making this a poor choice for true alpine assaults. Best suited to Backpackers who value a light load above all.
Weight: 1.8 kg, 4.0 lbs, floor: 30 sq ft, vestibule: 8 sq ft Price: $400
