Getting Better Sleep in the Outdoors
By Editor | January 30, 2008
You purchased a new sleeping pad and a warmer sleeping bag, but find yourself tossing and turning in your tent.
Below are some tips to better sleep:
Bring a comfort object –
Adults like kids sleep better when they have something familiar with them. This could be your sheets, pillow case or your usual sleeping pajamas.
Routine, Routine, Routine –
You’ve got to stick to your routine. Changing your habit can definitely disrupt your sleep. Do what you do before you go to sleep, like have a cup of tea, read a book and things like brush your teeth.
Master your environment –
Use earplugs and an eye mask to block out the sounds of frogs, animal noises and
moonlight and sunlight.
Stop Thinking –
Calm your anxiety. It will just exaggerate the problems your thinking of. To calm your thoughts, listen and concentrate on your breathing and of course use the tried and true method of county sheeps.
