First Ascent Rainier Storm Shell Pants – Waterproof / Breathable Pants
By Editor | February 10, 2011
The First Ascent Rainier Storm Shell pants may feel light and flimsy but don’t under estimate its capabilities. These waterproof / breathable shell pants weighing in at 15 ounces can handle any winter outing and keep you comfortable at the same time. Snow, rain and 30 mph wind…no problem.
The Storm Shell pants is made of three layer waterproof / breathable fabric which is more re-inforced in areas of high wear like the ankles, knees and seat or butt. The fabric offers good breathability, however if you get really hot the First Ascent Storm Shell pants do have side zippers from the hip down to the ankle to get more hot humid air out.
In addition to shielding you from inclement weather, the First Ascent Rainier Storm Shell pants are light and compact and easily fit into any small backpack or bag. To save weight, First Ascent has taken a few pant features out like pockets and gaiters (don’t have).
Although the Rainier Storm Shell pants has a trim cut, they do fit over your hiking or winter boots quite well and maneuverabiltiy is pretty good as well.
Price: $199
