By Editor | February 28, 2010
It’s a long drive to the end of Door Country peninsula, and the a ferry ride to the island however the trip Wisconsin’s Rock Island is well worth it. A mile long hike will take you to the five backpacking campsites situated in an amazing setting perched right over the rocky beach with some incredible views of Lake Michigan.
The island itself is fairly small, but with 10 miles of trails, there’s quite a bit of exploring to do. One thing you can count on is that this island will be quiet if you are looking for some peace, there are no motor vehicles or even bicycles allowed on Rock Island.
The ferry to Rock Island State Park runs from May to mid-October.
