Sierra Designs Lightning Lightweight Tent
By Editor | April 7, 2009
The Sierra Designs Lightning is everything a backpacking tent should be: lightweight, easy to set up and extremely livable.
The side mesh door is pure bliss. Because it’s on the long side it opens wide, plus it has a full-perimeter zip so you can remove it completely to get it out of the way. The Sierra Designs Lightning tent feels more roomy than it is, thanks to the pre-bent poles that steepen the walls and a combination floor-seam/bathtub floor that stays flat without compromising waterproofing. The carbon/ graphite poles are stronger and 17 per cent lighter than standard aluminum.
Keep in mind that the Sierra Designs Lightning tent only one vestibule on the same side as the door, wet-weather storage space is limited.
The Sierra Designs Lightning tent is best suited to Backpackers who want versatile three-season comfort that’s quick to set up and light to carry.
Weight: 1.8 kg, 4.0 lbs Size: Floor: 30 sq ft, vestibule: 10 sq ft Price: $450
