Kayland Contact 1700 Hiking Boots
By Editor | March 1, 2009
The Kayland Contact 1700s feel more like an extension of your feet than other backpacking boots. They’re plenty stiff, yet surprisingly nimble underfoot. This is partly due to ample rocker in the sole that makes striding easy, partly due to an ankle-lock lacing system that keeps your heel securely in place and partly due to a snug asymmetrical fit. The full wraparound sticky rubber rand and the semisticky outsole grip extremely well on both dirt and rock, while an eVENT waterproof liner keeps your feet dry on wet trails.
The Kayland Contact 1700 has excellent fit and finish, together with the waterproof/breathable liner, add up to a fairly hefty price tag. It is best suited to Lightweight backpackers looking for a non-clunky boot.
Weight: 0.8 kg, 1.71bs, all weights are per boot Price: $300
