Tubbs Ridgeline Series Snow Shoes

By Editor | February 16, 2009

Tubbs Ridgeline snow shoes series

Tubbs Ridgeline Series of all-mountain snowshoe comes in an array of sizes to fit any hiker.

With six models in this series-three for women, three for men-Tubbs offers the nearest thing to a custom fit. The Ridgeline shoes feature an aluminum oval frame with a tough, vinyl-like decking, and bindings that earned especially high praise for their simplicity and security. Dial in the size the first time you put them on, then use the quick-release clips for subsequent hikes. On our feet, they were incredibly stable, even on dicey traverses across upper Cowlitz Park on the flanks of Rainier.

Testers also loved the binding’s pivot action, which allows you to get a great forefoot bite on steep ascents. Our only gripe: The tail had a tendency to slip.

Price: $229; 22″ to 36″ Weight: 4 Ibs. 3 oz. (25″)
