Keen Targhee II Mid Cut Hiking Boots

By Editor | March 10, 2008

Rated a “Best Buy” from Backpacker magazine, the Keen Targhee II (2) mid cut hiking boots was a hit with reviewers. Even with 35 pounds worth of gear in your backpack on long trails the Keen Targhee II mid cut hiking boots were comfortable.

Keen Targhee II 2 mid cut hiking bootsThe fit is close to the heel through you midfoot and roomy in the toe box area, which people with bunions will appreciate. The underfoot cushion and notched collar helped prevent any Achilles rub and also support high arches.

Waterproofing is good in most conditions, except for deep snow which may cause wet snow to soak right through the Keen Targhee II hiking boots. So stay away from deep snow.

Similarly, the Keen Targhee II mid cut boots do not perform well for traction when it comes to snow. Certain gear reviewers have noticed the boots slipping a bit on surfaces with snow, although on any other solid surface the Keen Targhee II perform flawlessly without slipping.

In conclusion, the Keen Targhee II did well in most categories of hiking on long trails, however we don’t recommend subjecting these hiking boots to deep snow or take them for far off the trail travel.

Price: $120 USD Weight: 2lbs and 2 oz.
