The Mithrilite jacket from Outdoor Research can give you the best of both worlds in terms of protection from the elements and breathability. The custom membrane fabric used for waterproofing and breathability does a great job to prevent wind , snow and water from getting in while allowing humidity from high output activities out so you stay dry and comfortable.
In addition, the seams are all taped making the Outdoor Research Mithrilite jacket a very versatile jacket. You can wear it on the slopes, hiking in the rain forest, when you are biking, when you are climbing or maybe you just need a reliable all weather jacket while travelling…the possibilities are endless.
Now, a great thing for people who sweats perfusely is the large arm pit zippers which provides a much larger venting portal for all that humidity. Not’s not all the hood on the Mithrilite jacket is helmet friendly for both bicycling and climbing, but unfortunately ski/snowboard helmets are too big for the hood.
As for comfort and convenience, the neck and chin microfiber lining is a plus as it feels comfortable on your neck also the hood is easy to adjust and there is a chest pocket and two handwarmer pockets.
