Turn on the lamp with a twist of the barrel lens and the Mammut Lucido X-Zoom will focus its beam on where ever you are looking. For a more concentrated beam for greater distance use the spot-mode which will project the light 450 feet so you can see well ahead. To save battery power and diffuse the light a bit, you can simply turn and dial the barrel lens back a little for a longer lasting less concentrated glow.
