Blackhead Range – New York
By Editor | June 5, 2010
Blackhead Range in New York features the Catskills 5 highest peaks along a ridgeline stretch. There are also plenty of trails that weave through the tranquil spruce forest which makes for some great hiking and beautiful views that had inspired lots of Hudson River School artists. Yet with all this going for it Blackhead Range is not a very busy wilderness area, you can hike end-to-end in the summer starting from Maple Crest Road to Windham High Peak via a Long Path without worrying about bumping into too many other hikers. If you want to adventure in Blackhead Range longer, make it a 3-day hike from the North or South
Lake State Campground to Windham High Peak instead.
