Helly Hansen Convertor Ekolab – Water-proof Breathable Shell

By Editor | December 24, 2009

Helly Hansen Convertor Ekolab Shell Jacket

Believe it or not the Helly Hansen Ekolab’s shell material is vegetable based. It is a water-proof breathable membrane and DWR (Durable Water Resistant) finish that is fluorocarbon-free and recyclable. Does this vegetable based shell perform as well as the regular synthetic stuff? The answer here is “very close.”

The Helly Hansen Convertor Ekolab shell easily repelled off hours of rain, and offered good breathability, although the synthetic stuff does breath better. The Ekolab are equipped with armpit zippers which goes up towards the chest to help with venting out moisture. The Helly Hansen Convertor Ekolab jacket is recyclable, which means that if you ever should throw it away, it will decompose / breakdown without harming the environment.

Price: $300 Weight: 16oz
