Multi-Season Performance MEC Pamir Soft Shell Jacket
By Editor | November 12, 2008
The Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) Pamir functions exceedingly well as either a mid-layer or an outer layer, making it one of the most versatile jackets we tested. The secret is Polartec Power Shield Light, a stretchy two-layer fabric with a smooth weather-resistant exterior and a plush fleece interior.
The design is pure utilitarian cut slim for athletic outings with two zippered chest pockets for storage and a high neck. It’s also one of the best-priced softshells we tested. Keep in mind The MEC Pamir is only available in black and neutral colour, but one that heats up like a sauna in the sun.
Best suited to skiers, climbers and hikers who need freedom of movement and breathable weather protection.
Weight: 0.4 kg, 1.0 lbs Price: $160 USD
